In this collection of new works I explore energetic painting with urban and industrial tools such as fire extinguishers filled with enamel paint on custom structural frames fabricated from construction materials.
My initial series focuses on botanical subjects as well as art and pop culture references, for instance Robert Mapplethorpe’s still life photographs of flowers.
This project started as an initiative to artistically apply skills that I acquired from relocating and transforming my dwellings. A shift in scale, media, and working methods is a fascinating opportunity to produce a collection of substantial works and dealing with subjects and inspirations other than in my previous work.
