Saks Fifth Avenue Cincinnati Beauty Event Live Drawings

Had a wonderful time drawing people live at the Saks Fifth Avenue Cincinnati Beauty Event this last Saturday. Customers who purchased a certain amount of beauty products could have their portrait drawn by me—with real make-up such as from Chanel and Tom Ford! The resulting drawings were signed and handed out to customers in elegant Saks Fifth Avenue gift boxes. A day to remember and cherish for sure ❤️ Thank you Saks for having me! Live Online Portrait Drawing Session on December 10

I will draw at the Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinnati as part of my artist micro residency, a collaboration that started from a commissioned live drawing performance for CAC’s ‘Art Off the Wall’ gala in 2018. Each 20 minute drawing session includes a short meet & greet before the drawing performance. Individual Zoom meeting invites will be e-mailed to you upon purchase. The drawings will be done on 11 x 14 in (27.9 x 35.6 cm) format fine art paper and include worldwide shipping within 2 business days.

S.OLIVER X JARNO Collaboration

Hello again!

I would like to present to you my new creative collaboration with the German fashion company s.Oliver, titled S.OLIVER X JARNO

This unique assignment started when I was invited to draw the runway models live in front of an audience at s.Oliver's Fashion Show Event in September 2018 held at their central offices in Rottendorf. The dynamic live fashion illustration experience that ensued resulted in multiple energetic and colorful mixed media artworks on paper, which were displayed to bring a creative and inspirational dynamic during the event. A number of these original illustrations were selected for s.Oliver, from which three of them were turned this summer into t-shirts for the special S.OLIVER X JARNO collection!

Live Fashion Illustrations for s.Oliver

Very excited about my recent commission to illustrate the models at s.Oliver’s in-house fashion show live as it was happening on September 18th! This special collaboration includes the live fashion illustrations and portraits of select personalities of the German fashion company headquartered in Rottendorf. Here showcased are a few snapshots of the resulting live action drawings and the scene at the event.

Sketching Tziporah Salamon at the Cincinnati Art Museum

I had a blast sketching the energetic fashion performance of the New York style icon Tziporah Salamon yesterday at the Cincinnati Art Museum. What a fun and fabulous event this was! The performance was preceded by a private Sunday cocktail reception and followed by a lovely seated luncheon at the museum. Invited by chief curator Cynthia Amneus and the event sponsor Moe Rouse I was able to capture the action straight from the front row.

This was also the first time using my spanking new 12.9–inch iPad Pro with Procreate illustration software. You can view a selection of the resulting instant sketches in the above slide show. Let me know what you think!

ESSENTIEL ANTWERP X DESIGNERS AGAINST AIDS COLLECTION LAUNCH

New live portrait drawing event, commissioned by Essentiel Antwerp for the ESSENTIEL ANTWERP X DESIGNERS AGAINST AIDS Collection Private Launch Party.

The party was held at the chique pop–up space A–TOWER in Antwerp and my task was to capture the essence of invited personalities including members of press and celebrities from Belgium and around. The drawing performance itself generated a great deal of excitement, and the brave ones who stroke a pose will receive the original drawing as a truly unique and exclusive keepsake — courtesy of ESSENTIEL ANTWERP and DESIGNERS AGAINST AIDS.

Live Portrait Drawing Event, RISD Museum, Todd Oldham All of Everything Exhibition Dance Party

Dear viewers,

I was recently commissioned by RISD Museum to do a live portrait drawing event at its Todd Oldham, All of Everything Exhibition Dance Party.

The assignment - a huge success by the way, according to the museum and guests - included creating a whopping 24 live portrait drawings of selected fashionable VIP guests and sponsors in the course of the few hours that the party lasted! For those only watching I added an extra bit of glitter and sparkle to add to the feeling of glamour. Each finished drawing was put on a display and then on a rack to dry overnight, after which the selected guests could easily pick up their signed and packaged portraits.

An original live drawing I made of the backstage scene at Misha Nonoo fall/winter 2015-2016 show in New York

A few photos from the opening of the New Nordic Fashion Illustration Vol. 2 exhibition opening at the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design. If you happen to be in the area I really recommend visiting the exhibition. It is really well done, very impactful and provides a very nice look of the many types and styles of contemporary fashion illustration. For me this was also an amazing opportunity to meet my fashion illustrator colleagues whose work I have been following for years, but didn't know personally. Everyone was really friendly and enthusiastic to connect with each other - almost like a family getting together after a long time!

RISD Apparel Department Live Illustration Demo

A video of my recent lecture and live fashion illustration demo at RISD Apparel Department including a few of the resulting live illustrations. What a fun and energetic event and talented students! I never before had to explain how I create my live illustrations to an audience while doing it at the same time and it was great! I learned a great deal myself as well, because this made me really think about what I'm doing and articulate all the split second decisions that are natural to me, but new to the students. To be continued for sure!

For the Misha Nonoo F/W 15-16 New York Fashion Week show I was commissioned to create a unique illustration for the program flyer describing the collection's mood and to cover the backstage scene live during the fashion show.
